Billing Practices

Deciding to hire a lawyer is a difficult decision. It is important to be concerned about the cost but that should not be the only factor in deciding who to hire to help you navigate the criminal justice system. With your freedom at stake, it may not be the time to shop for a bargain. In truth, the best lawyer for you may not be the one who is the most or the least expensive. Although it is important to hire a lawyer who is experienced and thorough, you should also choose a lawyer you are comfortable with and whom you trust.

We will work with you to make quality representation affordable. Ordinarily, criminal cases are not hourly cases but flat fees which are determined by the level of offense charged, how many offenses are charged, and whether the case is resolved by dismissal, diversion or plea agreement, or whether the case is tried to a court or jury. Although we expect to be compensated fairly for the work we do, the client is not charged by the hour, nor are you charged for phone calls, copies or paper clips. You are only responsible for expenses, such as depositions, transcripts and witness fees. If your case is resolved quickly, your fees will be minimal.

Our customary practice is for a client to pay an initial up-front payment and then we can work out a weekly or monthly payment schedule. This payment schedule can be fitted to your financial situation. Please do not hesitate to call for a free consultation.
